Movie Meme

For Getting to Know You on Create a Connection, it is time to talk movies. Which I'm always prepared to do, movies or books, I'm ready!

Name your all-time favorite movie! (Or if you're like me, narrow it down to your top five!)

Arrhhggghhhh that is haaaaarrrrdddd, but ok here is 5:

1. Brazil

2. Lord of the Rings (all three, I think they are one movie)

3. Moulin Rouge

4. The Shining

5. Mildred Pierce

What genre of movie do you like best?

Science Fiction/Fantasy I suppose, if I have to pick just one.

What movie made you cry the most?

Bridges of Madison County. Mostly because my husband cried so much.

Have you ever applauded during a movie in the theatre? Which one? If not, what would make you do that?

Sure, all the time. Whenever the hero/heroine makes it, does it, especially in sports kinds of movies. Or at the end of a particularly good movie. I know it is pointless, but it is a communal spirited kind of reaction that you get caught up in. One of the reasons to actually get out of the house and GO to a movie! Hmmmm, maybe this has something to do with my teenager not wanting to sit with me at a movie anymore...

Do you own any soundtracks from movies? Which is your favorite and why did the music inspire you?

I own a lot of soundtracks, being raised on Ennio Morricone (the composer for the Clint Eastwood cowboy movies) and all. I have the following soundtracks:

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

All three Lord of the Rings trilogy movies

Married to the Mob (great 80's tunes!)

West Side Story

City of Angels

Moulin Rouge (both, #1 and #2)

I think my favorite is Moulin Rouge, because the music tells the story so very well. The unique combinations of pop love songs into something listenable is so inspiring. This soundtrack got me through a very hard year.

Is there a particular actor or actress who inspires you? Why do you like him or her?

Kate Winslet, Kelly McGillis, Kathy Bates. Beautiful women all, and really excellent actors. Besides their names all beginning with K, I am inspired because they are all "overweight" by Hollywood standards, but they still continue to get roles and kick ass. Skinny asses in particular!

Is there a particular actor or actress who you just dislike and will not see their movies? Why?
Adam Sandler. I just can't stand his voice, and all his early roles of playing such dumb characters. big turnoff. Plus I didn't like him on SNL.

Have you ever dreamed of being an actor? Which role would be your dream role?

No, I don't think I have ever dreamed of being an actor. If I had a dream role it would be Anita in West Side Story.

If there was ever a movie made of your life, who should star as you?

Ah! Moulin Rouge! What a great show - I haven't seen it in forever... now I'm gonna have to go watch. The soundtrack is awesome too! :)

Great list of actresses too! Gotta love the girls who swim against the stream in Hollywood!!!
