Unfortunately, Julie

Oh dear, this is yet another fun use of Google. Thanks to Diane at Going to Pieces for passing it on.

Try googling this phrase: "Unfortunately (insert your name)" and see what you come up with.

Some of the funniest ones I found are:

Unfortunately, Julie lost her role when it was discovered that she had posed for Playboy magazine.
(oh no the truth is out !)

Unfortunately, Julie is a completely repulsive, unappealing and vulgar human being known to man.
(Yikes, don't hold back now)

Unfortunately, Julie was not able to continue her level 10 success in 2007 due of broken leg.
(So much for level 10 success)

Unfortunately, Julie’s environmental illness ended her art career.
(oh dear, that isn't too auspicious is it?!)

Unfortunately Julie sat on them during a break and we had to do a lot of gluing to get them back together.
(I hate it when I do that)

Unfortunately, Julie couldn't resist and found herself having an affair with Franco.
(ahem, I don't know anyone named Franco)

Unfortunately, Julie was recently informed that most of the cats had been poisoned over a period of a few days.
(my goodness that's horrible!)

Unfortunately, Julie got the boot (too early, in my opinion).
(yeah really!)

Unfortunately, Julie couldn't do anything about my slight bald spot and receding hairline.
(you're on your own there, bub)

Unfortunately, Julie's return home wasn't a time for celebration. Instead, she was accused of shooting Senator Mark.
(Who knew I was so violent?)

Unfortunately, Julie's skin turned a nice shade of red, instead of glistening in the sun like a true vampire.
(my other secret is out, now you know why I read all those vampire books)

Reminds me of the one I did a couple years ago, where you google: "(your name) needs" that one was hilarious!

Ye Olde Holiday Meme

A very fun holiday meme, coming to you courtesy of Diane at Going to Pieces.

Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate please, especially with whipped cream on top. I do like eggnog, but it sometimes makes me queasy when I think of what it is made with.

Does Santa wrap presents or set them under the tree? Santa always wraps presents, no matter how big or small they are (except for the chair that one year), in wrapping paper different from the regular presents. And the presents are set near the stockings, not under the tree.

Colored lights on tree or white? Definitely colored, white lights just seem like something you could use anytime of year. This year we have three strands of the new LED lights, I'm not sure I like how they look compared to the usual kind, not as sparkly. But I know I'm saving a lot of energy and can have them on more!

When do you put your decorations up? I usually like to decorate on my birthday (December 1st), but if it doesn't happen then, then at least within the first two weeks of December. If I get them up too late, then it is harder to get into the swing of the holiday spirit, and also my family won't let me take them down until the middle of January! What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? It is hard to pick one, because we're always mixing up the menus on Christmas. I'd have to say I truly enjoyed the cioppino we made a couple years ago, it was restaurant quality, it was swoon-worthy. I think we'll make that this year for Christmas Eve dinner.
When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I think I was around 8 or 9, and soemone at school told me. I was really upset and worried until I talked to my mom, who told me the big secret was now I get to make the magic happen for my little brother. What do you know? It worked, I thought that was just great. I know people worry about telling this deliberate lie to their children, but it really is a great thing to learn that your parents=Santa Claus. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yes, we open all our gifts to each other on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning we open whatever Santa brings us. Santa usually brings stuff that parents wouldn't normally give.

How do you decorate your Christmas tree? We have lots of different ornaments, from my childhood, ones that the boys have made, I've been collecting stars and the word "PEACE". Some gold garland, and a gold star on top. I used to love putting the silvery "icicles" on, but once we got cats who liked to eat them, we had to stop using them. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I suppose I love it, since I have to go visit someplace else to find some, so it is a treat. I think if I lived in a place where it snowed every winter, I'd dread it.
Can you ice skate? Yes, but I haven't in a really looooong time. I remember how much it would make my ankles hurt compared to roller skating.
Do you remember your favorite gift? I think that would be my very first 110 Camera. I was so excited about it, to have my very own camera. Then we went to Disneyland right afterwards and I took all kinds of crazy pictures.
What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Seeing family, spending time just being together, giving presents and cooking good food that we never take the time to make.
What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Almond Trees made with the Mirro Cookie Press tree shape and topped with round teeny sprinkles. Don't let them overcook!
Christmas trees
1- 12 min @ 375
1 c shortening
3/4 c sugar
1 egg
2 1/4 c sifted flour
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 tsp bkg powder
1 tsp almond extract
Green vegetable coloring
Multi Colored Round Small Sprinkles

Cream shortening adding sugar gradually. add unbeaten egg, sifted dry ingredients, flavoring, and a few drops of vegetable coloring, mixing well. Fill cookie press, press out cookies, decorate with sprinkles. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets. Use the tree plate. yield 6 doz.

What is your favorite tradition? Making a gingerbread house with my boys and then we all participate in destroying it for dessert.
Which do you prefer, Giving or Receiving? Giving. I love to see if I've chosen a present that the person really truly enjoys receiving.
What is your favorite Christmas Song? The one that I love for its contemporary interpretation of the story of Christmas is Dave Matthews' "Christmas Song".

Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Oh yum! Especially if you use it to stir your hot chocolate (see question #1 above).

Ever recycled a Christmas present? Nope, not yet, but I''ll be honest and admit that I've been tempted.
How about you?

7 Weird and Random Facts

In all the excitement of holding my breath til the election was over, I almost forgot! Darling Petunia tagged me for the 7 random/weird facts meme.
So here are the rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
I know I've done this one before, but I couldn't locate it in my archives quickly enough, so hopefully these are new and weird enough for you!
My Weird/Random Facts:
1. I will eat blue cheese on just about anything. Even dessert. I just had a baked pear and blue cheese concotion that was divine. Salads, hamburgers, I'll try just about anything with blue cheese on it. Yes I know it is probably bad for me, what with the mold content and all.
I knew, just knew, for real and for true, that my husband and I were soul mates when on the day of our honeymoon at Hearst Castle, we both picked a container of blue cheese to have on our crackers for our lunch picnic. And there were no leftovers! :-)

2. We went to Death Valley for our honeymoon (stopping at Hearst Castle on the way). It was amazing, we did some really fun hikes, saw the castle, and I still love looking at the pictures we took. I giggle at remembering being so amazed by the colors of the rocks, then getting my photos back from the developer (this was a while ago, 1990!) and being disappointed. Of course, it was because everything looked soooo great with my rose colored sunglasses that I was wearing everyday. I haven't been back since, but I'd love to go during the big bloom of the spring flowers.

3. I have trouble throwing away wine corks. I have several containers of them, and I don't have any reason to keep them. But whenever there is one remaining after the wine bottle has gone into the recycling bin, there is the cork, sitting on the counter, practically taunting me. I don't know why! If they ever get thrown away, it must someone else, not me. I love the shape, the size, the squishiness, the squeakiness, the scent, the interesting printing, the remnants of wine on one end.

I know at one point I saw a bulletin board made out of wine corks, and I thought, oooh, I want to save up corks and make one. That may be when I started saving them. I have carved some into a nice group of small stamps. At one point I was going to do an entire cork stamp alphabet. Hmm, haven't done that either. And I know I read something about cork trees being endangered or threatened or going extinct...

It is a pretty harmless compulsion as far as compulsion go, I suppose. As long as we don't start drinking tons more wine, I'll probably not die under a collapsing pile of wine corks anytime soon.

This guy might though, he's trying to collect 1 Billion corks to make Kon-Tiki out of them!

4. Over the course of my life, I have owned or been owned by the following twelve cats:

Lady de Winter (she's the first one I remember),I recall sitting on the garage step eating dry catfood with her so she would have company while she dined, she was killed by the neighbor's Doberman Pinscher (that was one of the worst days of my childhood).

Velvet, a soft and sweet black cat who ended up being kicked out of being an inside cat because she used the sand in the gas-fired fire places as her litterbox, ewwwww.

TC, short for Tiny Cat, the cat Marc had when I met him. He loved to ride on a record as it spun around on the record player (remember those from waybackwhen?)

Calvin, Hobbes, these two were a brother and sister pair, our first cats as a couple, they both lived for a very long time and moved with us to the Redwood Forest when we escaped from suburbia.

Ticonderoga, ran away to live another family down the street when we got our first dog. She was renamed Princess and was much happier there.
Yertle, was tragically killed by the garage door.

Zippy, born to a feral mom cat, we got him as a kitten from our nurse at the medical office in our town. He and Alex were "kittens together", so he is 13 now and quite the stately, in-charge gentleman cat. In our family, he is known as MY cat. But he still puts up with being manhandled by Alex quite a bit.
Lucky, so named as he was rescued from the pound. He is a black and white tuxedo cat who moved himself strictly outside when my sister-in-law came to live with us, bringing her two cats, one of whom did not get along with Lucky. I think Lucky thinks that he is still somewhere inside the house so he usually refuses to come in. He accepts exactly two pets on the head when you feed him, but that's the limit, strictly enforced.

Rexie, Named thusly because when he was a kitten he'd fight standing up on his hind legs, and he reminded the boys of a T. Rex. He is without a doubt, the sweetest, floppiest, mellowest cat I've ever known. Especially since the injury to his throat this fall which required a lot of medicine and skin cleaning. He put up with it all, and is even more appreciative after the ordeal. It is really hard to stay awake when he is napping on you, something about the timbre of his purr puts everyone right out. When you're sick, he's the one who notices and sticks by you while you laze around in bed.
Pele, Rexie's sister, who was nicknamed Danger Cat as she as a kitten was always getting into places she shouldn't have. Unfortunately she somehow had the cat tower knocked over onto her, she almost died, was blind for a while, and is brain damaged in some way. She isn't able to tolerate much interaction with people, so she hides under the couch in my studio. Late at night when everyone is asleep she roams around and sometimes will put up with some petting. She is really beautiful, and sweet in her own way, and I'm sad that her life turned out this way :-(
Spike is Alex's cat, he is the meanest, crankiest cat I've ever had. He fights with all the other cats and is basically a real jerk. He is the only cat that was raised entirely by Zelda the Wonder Dog, so he is quite dog like in a lot of ways. They play together and pal around outside, probably because he isn't much liked by the other cats! He is also the cat that insists on sleeping on your face. Literally on your face, I'm always waking up gasping for breath because he's once again sealed off my nose and mouth. Gaaack.

The last five are still alive (nearing crazy-cat-lady status), the others will always be with me. The only time I've been without a cat was when I was away from home at college and for short time between college and moving in with Marc (aka Mr. Husband).

5. I can't throw away any fabric scraps. I know I've talked about this here before, booooorrrring, I know! But I really am finding I have a problem with this habit, and it is impacting my studio space. I do enjoy using the scraps eventually, and I also enjoy the processes that make the scraps in the first place! So maybe the issue is just with the storage part of it. I truly think of them as another type of paint in my paintbox. I'm not about to go to the extreme of sorting my scraps by color or some other crazy gambit like that. You'd never hear from me again, they'd have to put me in the loony bin. Besides, the main way I use them is in the serendipitous juxtapositions that come up as they are randomly taken out of the stuffed plastic boxes they're living in. If they were sorted, then it wouldn't be the same fun process that I've worked out for myself.
I think I just need to be more compact in how I store them. This requires some more thinking.
Or I need to make more stuff, faster than I make scraps, or ???

6. I like making found poetry out of a printed page:

7. I miss being in marching band. There. I said it. I miss that thrill of performing in the cool fall air, under the football field lights, with all my band buddies, the cheering crowd, making big pictures form with our mass of bodies, playing tv theme songs and Sousa marches, wearing the tall red fuzzy hat where we stored our Tab sodas for the first quarter of the football game, wearing the scratchy unflattering polyester uniform, finding new ways to put up my long hair so it would stay in my hat and above my collar. I miss riding on the bus to the games, singing "Breakfast In America" at the top of my lungs with the rest of the sax players and the after performance pizza parties.
Hmmm, who should I tag?

C'mon, share the weirdness! You know you want to!

6. Nellie at Nellie's Needles
7. Margi at MaverickCrafter
And anyone else who wants to do it, let me know in comments!

The Big Read

The Big Read is an NEA program designed to encourage community reading initiatives. Of their top 100 books, they estimate the average adult has read only six.”

Another book meme, from DebR of course!

I find that to be really sad. The average is only six. Hmmm, that seems like a really really low figure.

A lot of these we had to read in high school, so I find that hard to believe, maybe people didn't remember the names of the books they read way back when?

I noted the books that I've only seen the movie for, which is kind of sad in a way, sometimes if the movie is dreadful, it makes you want to avoid wasting more time on reading the book.

I have to admit I haven't heard of several of these books, which surprised me, I don't know if they're old or new and don't even recognize the author's names. And several of these I truly have no interest in reading. 61 out of 100, what is that a C? Not toooo bad I guess. But there are several that I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I haven't read as of yet. Lots better than the average of six though!
How about you, have you read many of these books??

Omnivore One Hundred

I can't resist this meme that I got from DebR, and she got it from: A Daily Dose of Zen, .Here’s the rules:
1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.

2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten

3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.

4) Optional extra: Post a comment here at A Very Good Taste linking to your results.

5) Deb’s addition: italicize the ones you aren’t sure about

The VGT Omnivore’s Hundred:

1. Venison-I'm always joking about hunting the deer on our land, our friends' dad did on theirs, and made some very tasty venison sausage out of the marauders.
2. Nettle tea
3. Huevos rancheros best hangover breakfast ever!
4. Steak tartare - Not a favorite, but served with the right sauces it is pretty good.
5. Crocodile - I’ve eaten alligator, but not crocodile
6. black pudding
7. Cheese fondue- in Switzerland even!

9. Borscht - good stuff, and such a beautiful color.
10. Baba ghanoush-oh gosh yes! I make this a lot too! Looks disgusting, but tastes heavenly.
11. Calamari - I especially love it "steak" form, sometimes the tentacles are too ooky.

14. Aloo gobi

19. Steamed pork buns - Assuming they mean the dim sum kind.
20. Pistachio ice cream-a great color, but I like green tea ice cream better though.
21. Heirloom tomatoes - most have such great flavor and/or color, but some of them aren't all that great.

Six Questions, Answered

Darling Petunia, tagged me with a fun meme!

The rules: Answer 6 questions about myself. At the end of the post, tag 6 people and post their names. I then go to their blogs and leave them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read my blog. Finally, I let the person who tagged me know when I’ve posted my answers. (well 2 out of 3 ain't bad, right?!)

Here goes:

What was I doing ten years ago?

In 1998, I was working outside the home as an accounting software consultant, and taking care of two young boys ages 5 and 3. Dealing with small boys is sooooo different than with the teenaged beasts they are now, I truly had no idea. Most of my time was spent taking them places, playing with them, working when they weren't getting chicken pox, oh and occasionally quilting. I also was much healthier, sigh. I would have enjoyed myself more then if I knew how that would be changing in just ten years. I would say these last 10 years have just about been my favorite of my whole life (to date).

Five things on my to-do list for today?

1. laundry - hang up outside on the line early enough so it has a chance to dry, I'm trying really hard not to use the dryer.

2. make a doctor's appointment for myself that I've been putting off a year, oh yeah and that mammogram I've been postponing too.

3. pack for our trip to Sedona! Yikes! We leave on Friday morning!

4. brush the dog and all the cats. The hair this year is tremendous, bushels of it practically, bleah.

5. hem my new purple skirt, gotta have one more skirt to take on my trip.

Snacks I like?

I love salty asian crackers, the ones with nori or teriyaki flavors or chocolate covered almonds. Both of which I stock up on when I go to Trader Joe's.

Things I would do if I was a billionaire?

Making some big decisions! Geez that would be weird to be a billionaire all of a sudden. The scale of that kind of money is rather mind boggling to me. A timid first guess would be traveling (in high style of course) with the whole family would be a given. And starting some kind of helpful foundation with my oodles of bucks. Building a super cool very green house on a beach somewhere. Would I buy a lot of new stuff? Would I move right away? Would I buy a tropical island? How would this change my life for the better or for the worse? Lots o' questions that are hard to even imagine answering.

Places I have lived?

San Jose

Saratoga

Santa Cruz

Berkeley

Oakland

Mountain View

Cupertino

Boulder Creek

all in California, USA

Six people I want to know more about? All of you! Yes you! Leave a comment if you answer...

Grocery MeMe

How fun, A MeMe from LauMe. About something mundane, but something that everyone does, even fiber artists must go to the grocery!

1. How often do you go to the grocery store? All together, I guess just about every other day.

2. Do you love or hate going grocery shopping? Neither, it is just a necessary part of life, part of keeping my family alive and healthy and fed. I would rather have the food come to me as a recluse-in-training, but the artist part of me does like going to the store for the visual stimulation (especially the produce section), and I do always get that chance to make a checker smile or interact if I feel like it.

3. Where do you go? We go bi-weekly to Costco, then weekly during the summer to our CSA Farm, Camp Joy for the basket of produce, then up to daily to NobHill, Safeway, Ben Lomond Market or New Leaf Market (the crunchy hippie granola store!).

4. Are you a faithful list writer? Yes, I try to have a list going otherwise I use my mental list which is renowned for getting an item "stuck" on it for months so that we end up with a cabinet filled with dry soup mix or toilet paper. oops. Can't trust the mental faculties so much anymore, so I rely on a list. And if I'm trying out a new recipe which require buying a new item or a specific ingredient then I definitely make a list.

My favorite recipe that I made recently was from Sunset Magazine: Vietnamese Calamari Herb Salad, which I will certainly make it again this summer. It took freakin' forever, was really complicated, but it was beyond delicious. And I swear this time I'll remove the seeds from the jalapeno peppers so that it won't take the roof off your mouth with the heat. (not my picture, this is from the magazine! but it did look this good, really truly!)

5. Do you write it but never remember to bring it? Yes, I do this a lot, but if I've written out a list I usually can recall it (mostly) at the store by closing my eyes and picturing my hand writing it out.

6. Do you use coupons? Hardly ever as I'm usually buying store brands of packaged foods.

7. What do you ALWAYS have in your fridge? Condiments, SoyVay Veri Veri Teriyaki sauce, dairy products (milk butter cheese eggs), tortillas, tofu and maple syrup.

8. What is the thing in your fridge that is a "guilty pleasure"? Toby's Blue Cheese Dressing. The best blue cheese dressing you can buy at the store!

9. What is that one or two things that you feel like you buy every single day? I feel like I'm always buying bread. Even though I buy two loaves at a time and throw one in the freezer. I also mean sourdough or french bread. I buy one loaf a day practically and most times it is gone before dinner time. We go through spells of compulsive bread making, use our bread maker, or make the no-knead bread and I'm always thinking I ought to get a sourdough starter going. But around here, fresh-made bread gets eaten even faster which is good and bad I suppose!

10. What items do your children consume in ABUNDANCE? We don't usually have soda so if we do, it is gone in the blink of an eye. Cherries, berries and most fruit disappears super quick. And tortilla chips and salsa, gone daily if I buy it. But besides those things, Everything! They don't call teenagers grocery gobblers for nothing. We used to joke that I'd have to go back to work a paying job once our boys turned into teens, and now I'm starting to realize that isn't too far off from the truth, yikes! Our grocery bill is going up quickly and not just because of the food prices going up so quickly.

11. What's on your fridge? On top is the wine rack and the watering can and the lunchboxes. The rest is covered with magnets and papers that the magnets are holding up for me. Hey I did a quilt about this called Refrigerator Map. There was a whole challenge on QuiltArt Refrigerator Wardrobes, check out what other artists did with the subject.

12. Are the fridge magnets special, or random? Most are special, some are gifts, some are ones I've purchased on trips that we've taken, and the rest are those photo sleeve magnets with pics of our friends and relatives.

13. When you go to the store do you just throw things into the cart, or do you stack them neatly? I start out neat, then get messy towards the end. I try really hard to put the squishable stuff up in the baby seat part of the basket, but invariably the bread ends up on the bottom...

14. Brand name or generic? I like a lot of the store brands, so I usually go for those since they're cheaper, unless the brand names are on sale.

15. Do you read labels? On new products yes. And especially after I've read my Nutrition News newsletter where they talk about the latest thing we're supposed to avoid in our food. The list is getting longer. So as a result we buy a lot less of the processed foods to avoid all the extra chemicals.

16. Do you use paper or plastic? Cloth! Usually I use the bags I've sewn. And boy do I ever get comments on them which is always a nice ego-stroke in the grocery store! Sometimes I get plastic bags as we need a few of those for disposing of the weekly cat litter.

At the Movies and on the Sunny Deck

Updated!
Some sun-filled flower pictures for fun. I'm having better luck with the macro function on my new camera, see....

With mille grazie to DebR (who loves movies as much as books just like me!).

Hey why doncha Play The Movie Quote Game with me!
If you want to play here are, the rules:
* Pick fifteen of your favorite movies.

* Go to IMDB and find a quote from each movie.

* Post them on your blog for everyone to guess.

* Fill in the film title once it’s guessed.

This part is for the reader (that's you bub!):
* No Googling or using IMDB search functions.

* Leave your answer(s) in the comments.

So here are 15 of my favorite movies that weren't on DebR's list already. Not in any particular order, and certainly not my very top of all time. Just the ones I came up with in the few minutes this took to do...

Movie Quote Number 1: Check!

" I assure you, Mrs. Buttle, the Ministry is very scrupulous about following up and eradicating any error. If you have any complaints which you'd like to make, I'd be more than happy to send you the appropriate forms. "

Yes, Dorothy, this is indeed from the fabulous Terry Gilliam masterpiece, Brazil!
Sam Lowry says it to the unfortunate Mrs. Buttle (whose husband has just been erroneously scooped up by the authorities.)

Movie Quote Number 2: Check!
" Even the smallest person can change the course of the future. "

Yup, DebR this is from the first Lord of the Rings movie, Fellowship of the Rings, except Galadriel says it to Frodo.

Movie Quote Number 3: "When *you* was my age? When my old man was my age, when my brother was my age... You was never my age, none of ya! And the sooner you creeps get hip to that, the sooner you'll dig us! "

Movie Quote Number 4: Check!
"Take car. Go to mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold? "

Way to go Carol, you got Shaun of the Dead correct. My all time favorite zombie movie, so hilarious you forget about the zombies. Shaun says this to Ed as they are figuring out what to do next, of course they end up at the pub.

Movie Quote Number 5: "There are two kinds of people in this world: Those that enter a room and turn the television set on, and those that enter a room and turn the television set off. "

Movie Quote Number 6: "It's all done except the last chapter. I want you to help me. Finish it... "

Movie Quote Number 7: "Y'all got on this boat for different reasons, but y'all come to the same place. So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything, I know this - they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten? They'll swing back to the belief that they can make people... better. And I do not hold to that. So no more runnin'. I aim to misbehave. "

Movie Quote Number 8: "Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. "

Movie Quote Number 9: "One minute you're defending the whole galaxy, and, suddenly, you find yourself sucking down Darjeeling with... Marie Antoinette and her little sister. "

Movie Quote Number 10: "I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about? "

Movie Quote Number 11: "Your master underestimated women! I was good enough to sleep with, but not to teach. What better punishment than to die by a woman's hand?"

Movie Quote Number 12: Check!
"Now, I had heard that word at least ten times a day from my old man. He worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay. It was his true medium; a master. But, I chickened out and said the first name that came to mind. "

Oooh, Dorothy got another one! Yes, this is indeed grown-up Ralphie reminiscing about dear old dad.

Movie Quote Number 13: Check!
" I'm shakin' the dust of this crummy little town off my feet and I'm gonna see the world. Italy, Greece, the Parthenon, the Colosseum. Then, I'm comin' back here to go to college and see what they know. And then I'm gonna build things. I'm gonna build airfields, I'm gonna build skyscrapers a hundred stories high, I'm gonna build bridges a mile long... "

DebR gets number two correct, yes it is from It's A Wonderful Life. George Bailey holds forth with his immediately thwarted plans for the future.

Movie Quote Number 14: Check!
"Darling. Light, of my life. I'm not gonna hurt ya. You didn't let me finish my sentence. I said, I'm not gonna hurt ya. I'm just gonna bash your brains in. I'm gonna bash 'em right the fuck in. Ha, ha. "
Janet got this one, creepy one isn't it? From The Shining, crazy Jack Torrance says it to his poor wife Wendy.

Movie Quote Number 15: "Okay. But you're not listening to me. There are other things that need to be taken into account here. Like the whole spectrum of human emotion. You can't just lump everything into these two categories and then just deny everything else! "
