Sensitive or ?

So are you a highly sensitive person?
Try taking this quiz that is on painterskeys today.

No big surprise to me, but I am. Very much so. Turns out that lots of artists and creative types are, which may explain the extra depression that we experience as a group also. I find it interesting that I personally find it helpful to know this about myself.
What is even MORE helpful is realizing that not everyone is as sensitive as I am. So when I'm swooning over how beautiful the new green stoplight is compared to the old one, and everyone looks at me like I'm crazy, it explains it to me, I don't have to feel bad about it, or feel like I'm weird.
I have always noticed colors, textures, shapes, shadows, etc. more than other people. It is part of being a visual artist. I became very sensitive to smells during pregnancy and that hasn't gone away, now that I haven't been pregnant for ten years. And then there are all the people interactions that I'm sensitive to, that's a whole 'nother conversation.

I JUST took that test, like 5 minutes ago (GMTA!) and scored way, WAY high. Not surprising, but interesting.

I took the test, too, and I have never thought of my self as being overly sensitive, but there it was - a very high score. I think that I have arranged and scheduled and adapted my life so that I can live with the condition.

I scored high as well - and today I'm feeling really extra-sensitive, like crawl under the covers sort of thing. I think I just need a vacation!

I am reading a book called Raising the Spirited Child by Mary Kuchinka (sp??) and it really speaks to me as well as being about my child. I highly recommend it even if you don't have a child who is 'spirited.' There are a lot of strategies for coping with life when you are sensitive. It is really helping me deal with W, but I am learning a lot about myself as well.

I think I'm pretty sensitive and I do have issues with depression. And I'm a writer! LOL. I guess I fit the description of one of those sensitive creative types. :-) I had the experience with being more sensitive to smells when I was pregnant, too.
