In the neighborhood we stayed in Copenhagen was this interesting round tower attached to a church. The Rundetaarn was built in 1642, attached to Trinitatis church. It was made this tall to be above the haze and smoke of the city so it could be used for astronomy.
It turned out you could walk up to the top (of course), and the big plus for me was that it wasn't all stairs the whole way.
It was a lovely brick floor gently angled spiral ramp.
It was a really nice walk up.
You could stop and have a look out of all the windows.

Until you were finally all the way at the top! This was after a very tight curling wrought iron staircase that had a one-way stoplight. It really worked out so that it was possible to take turns either going up or down to the very top.It turned out you could walk up to the top (of course), and the big plus for me was that it wasn't all stairs the whole way.

It was gorgeous up there.
Wonderful views of the city.It was said to be very crowded at sunset time.
I didn't want to go back down, it was so nice up there.
But first, I peeked up into the very tippy top of the tower where the currently in use telescope is located. You can come up and look through it on certain evenings. How fun would that be?
This was view into the bell-ringers apartment, really made me want to move in.
I had a little snack at the cafe halfway down the tower.
Down back the ramp I went.
This was a plexiglass covered view down the central spiral. And back out the door I went, finally have conquered the tower.
