Wandering Wednesday - Alameda

We just went up to Oakland to visit our DD, and we all went under the Webster tube tunnel over to the very very nearby island of Alameda. I hadn't been out there in ages, and it was very lively. A lot of the building looked just the same, but a lot has been built up too. Looks like a fun place to live. We got some lovely Boba fruit tea from Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea and walked on the beach. It was hot and sunny and also windy so quite pleasant if you had a hat.
We then drove over to another part of the island for an early dinner at a highly recommended Thai restaurant, Toomies Thai. Really really good Thai food. The drink above was a great surprise and is now my new favorite, it's a Butterfly Pea Flower Limeade. It starts out blue and when they add the lime it turns this beautiful magenta. So refreshing.
We did a lot of walking and talking which was really fun.
I fell in love with this neon sign on this for-sale building. It had a drive through situation on the side so you pull up and pick up your flowers I guess? Anyways, if that neon tubing is still good, I really hope someone that knows how reclaims that sign. That font is So Good.
A Carnegie building from 1902, the Free Library which has now been closed for 20 years. They've been looking for someone to renovate it, a really beautiful building. It was the first of 3 libraries that Carnegie built in California. There have been several plans to reuse the building, but unfortunately the latest one fell through in 2019.
And back over the Tidal Canal on the rattle-y metal Park Street bridge.

Back into Oakland we went.  I love looking at the shapes all the metal parts of the bridge have.
